Heading to Rome for an epic stag or hen weekend? Bellissimo! But before you dive into endless prosecco, pasta, and late-night adventures, it’s time to brush up on a few essential Italian phrases.

Trust us, knowing a little lingo will score you extra smiles (and maybe even a free limoncello) from the locals!

Here are the 10 must-know Italian phrases to sprinkle into your Roman holiday:

1. "Ciao!" (Chow) – Hello / Goodbye

Simple, friendly, and works both ways. Use it when entering shops, bars, or just about anywhere. Add a wave and a smile for full effect.

2. "Un altro, per favore!" (Oon AL-troh, pehr fah-voh-RAY) – Another one, please!

Whether it’s an Aperol Spritz, a Negroni, or a round of beers, you’ll need this at least twenty times during the weekend. 🍹

3. "Dov’è il bagno?" (Doh-VEH eel BAH-nyo) – Where’s the bathroom?

Critical after a few too many rooftop cocktails. (Trust us, remembering this one can save lives.)

4. "Siamo qui per una festa di addio al nubilato/celibato!" (SYAH-moh kwee pehr OO-nah FEHS-tah dee ahd-DEE-oh ahl noo-bee-LAH-toh / cheh-lee-BAH-toh) – We’re here for a hen/stag party!

Nubilato = hen party.Celibato = stag party. Drop this line at a bar and watch the Italians smile and cheer you on!

5. "Cin cin!" (Cheen-cheen) – Cheers!

A classic toast. Clink glasses, shout “Cin cin!”, and sip your way through a perfect Roman night.

6. "Una pizza grande, per favore." (OO-nah PEET-zah GRAN-deh pehr fah-voh-RAY) – One big pizza, please.

Because pizza is the ultimate hen/stag squad fuel, especially at 2 AM after a wild night out.

7. "Quanto costa?" (KWAHN-toh CO-stah) – How much does it cost?

Ideal for negotiating those cheeky souvenirs, gondolier hats, or an extra round of gelato.

8. "Possiamo avere un tavolo per [number] persone?" - (Poh-SYAH-moh ah-VEH-ray oon TAH-voh-loh pehr [number] pehr-SOH-neh?) – Can we have a table for [number] people?

Super useful when trying to seat 8-15 glam girls or rowdy lads at a busy Roman trattoria.

9. "È stato incredibile!" (Eh STAH-toh een-cray-DEE-bee-leh) – That was incredible!

Whether you’re talking about the Colosseum, a pasta dish, or last night's clubbing... you'll want this phrase on repeat.

10. "Andiamo!" (Ahn-DYAH-moh) – Let’s go!

Perfect for herding the troops from bar to bar, from sightseeing to supper, and anywhere else your Roman adventures lead.

Remember

Don’t worry about getting every pronunciation perfect. Italians appreciate any effort, especially when it's cheerful (and slightly tipsy). A few key phrases, a big smile, and lots of "grazie!" (thank you) will go a long way toward making your hen or stag party even more unforgettable.

So, un altro Spritz... andiamo!
